Vane Evangelical Lutheran Church

Vane Evangelical Lutheran Church is National monument of architecture and art. Vane Evangelical Lutheran Church was built from 1654 to 1663. Restored in 1789. In Latvia, it is known for its luxurious 17th-century baroque wall paintings, which were hidden from public eyes for a long time, as the church was undergoing renovations (1983). This is a unique painting in the history of Latvian art, as it has been preserved quite well and is visible on a large area.
The first church from wood was built in 1573 by chronicler Solomons Henings. Stone wall church 1654-1663 was built in times of his son Gothards Henings. Building was renewed in 1789. It is possible to look at church cellar. Legend goes that under the Vāne Church the golden carrige is buried.
